CHICAGO- ONLI STUDIOS is re-organizing its operation from a live brick & mortar studio with its monthly openings to a more svelte, virtual online focus. Long an advocate of expanding the visual arts with innovations such as Rhythmism and the growing Black Age of Comics genre, its founder and Chief Operating Artist is currently culling its extensive archives to publish fresh, earlier little known works. ONLI STUDIOS' Rhythmistic fine art and publications will be available in selected showcases like galleries, comic-cons and in download formats.
Onli was a major market illustrator with a client base that included the likes of Playboy, Capital Records and MODE Avant Garde. His early 'zine publications such as "Papers" and later "Future Funk" promoted the arts and an indie-world were every cultural stream was a respected source of creativity and appreciation.
The satirical, Bo-Monroe spoofed the movie "10' that started Bo Derek, and suggested non Black women were being overwhelmed by the beauty practices of Black women. "Etoile", which was inspired by Onli's association with friends who were professional dancers, experimented with poetry and erotic choreography in a sequential art context. These, coloring books, graphic novels and other publications are available for the ever-cool mobile experience at http://www.africomics.com/afridigital/vendors/onli-studios-store/
