"Fun. Fire, Flow & Funk!"

"Malcolm-10" was created in 1990 and first published in 1992 introducing the deep ever-cool urbane look that was ripped to become the make-over for the movie version of Blade.  If you look at images of Blade in the comix in that era you will see he has bell bottoms, huge fly insect looking glasses and a curly afro hairdo.

This profitable Hollywood rip-off is proof of how awesome Onli is in his expressive uniqueness. Lawyers asked on the average of $250,000.00 to take the case.  Talk about collusion.  If a Brother gets a beat-down by the police lawyers take the case for free.  But if the beat-down is at the hands of Hollywood they demand big bucks.

Even after confirming that it was a copyright infringement.

Over the years Onli has been in the midst of expanding the comix-related industry by way of radical styles, per newer concepts and alternative contemporary mythologies. His works have been in libraries, schools, networks, public spaces, collections, museums, anthologies and publications.

He thinks of himself as a Rhythmistic visual artist who developed a passion for comix at an early age,  before attending school.  His works have had great impact overall while maintaining immense growth potential for investors, collectors and developers.

He founded ONLI STUDIOS after his tenure of being a freelance major market illustrator for the likes of Playboy, WGN , The Paris Metro and Holt, Rinehart & Winston.

ONLI STUDIOS is a long time leader in indie & alternative comix publication.

Think of Black as a flavor.  Like Thai, Italian or even Soulfood.  Most of us are curious to experience the merits of new flavors to expand one's tastes and experience the cultures of the other. One does not have to be Italian to eat and love pizza.  Nor does one need to be Southern to get off on hot Buffalo Wings.

The above image was from 1995 when Onli was featured on the E! Channel in Los Angeles with his first ever traveling Black Age of Comics exhibition.

Here are a few awesome Rhythmistic artistic and story concept treatments from ONLI STUDIOS.

________________________________________________________________________________

When Prof. Onli coined the term "Black Age of Comics" in 1993 this simple logic was at its roots. A genre of creativity, culture & commerce in the entire Comic Book related industry that would be a place for this taste to be experienced, enhanced and then prosper.  Its not often that a Black person exercises self determination in such a dynamic manner as to name a genre & movement then empower it as an open sourced platform of growth, enjoyment and expression.

Research curiously suggests that greater value is usually given to terms that define what Blacks offer when its named by non-Blacks, such as Rock & Roll, Ghetto or the current hype around Afrofuturism.

When one buys indie Black Age books one is experiencing what the true bold locals create.  These are the more authentic expressions and voyages from the minds of those who are of this flow and still on the cutting edges of its craft.  Collecting from ONLI STUDIOS LLC. provides expansive samples from the source of the term that can often pivots into this cascade of creativity that is the growing indie Black Age of Comics be is called Black Speculative Art Movement......or Afrofuturism....it still emerges from the original foundations of the pioneers and greats of the Black Age.

A force so powerful that since its launch in 1993 by ONLI STUDIOS with the production of the world's first Black Age of Comics Convention, we have watched the ever increasing Blackening of the mainstream comic book industry along with tributaries of derivative movements in the indie sector.

Why are most music collections Blacker than most Graphic Novels collections?

Why is your exploration of world cuisines more open minded than your loyalties to the narrow offerings of the mainstream comix, Manga and a few exploitive brands?

Why is it that so many fans run from anything called "Black" when accountants and bankers...even investors all insist that being in "The Black" is the goal and precious prize?

ONLI STUDIOS LLC, with its line of products and the growing indie Black Age of Comics Movement is here to cure all of that.  To celebrate you, your new discoveries and promoting  all things derived from the Black, Urban, African, Indie and Alternative experience. Officially since its explosive launch in 1993.

ONLI STUDIOS published its first Graphic Novel in 1981:
"NOG: The Protector of the Pyramides /
The Nubian of Greatness"

"NOG" is the character and book that opened the door to the growing indie Black Age of Comics genre.  This is when ONLI STUDIOS transitioned form being a free lance major market illustration studio into a boutique indie publisher and advocate of the arts.

ONLI STUDIOS was pleased and honored to have NOG selected to be part of a landmark Afrofuturism Exhibition at the important Tubman African America Museum. Fans , curators, collectors and scholars can order products from the ONLI STUDIOS website.  Free shipping plus added rare oversized trading cards are included with each order as an expression of appreciation.
