One does not have to be Black to get one's Black Age on! It's like eating Mexican or Thai cuisine but not being of those cultures or nationalities. Black is not anti-anything. It is a flavor. One that has long since won the global cultural wars in the arts and much more. So why are most music collections still so much Blacker than most collections of Comic Books or Graphic Novels?

This amazing book dropped Oct. 3rd 2023.  Ytasha Womack intelligently put together exciting crucial creative, cultural and commercial aspects of MARVEL's Black Panther.

This book is great for fans, educators, students, researchers and haters all should be up on this book.

Prof. Turtel Onli is quoted four times in the book and references are made to "Rhythmism" and "The Black Age of Comics. Both were coined, founded and established by him. Rhythmism since the 1970s as a Future-Primitif approach to the visual arts.  The Black Age of Comics as a genre & movement that is derived from the Black, African, Urban and Alternative experience, since 1993.

Prof. Onli & Ytasha sharing a lil' luv & faith at Pocket Con in Chicago. NOTE: Pocket Con was modeled after the decades long Black Age of Comics Convention produced in Chicago by ONLI STUDIOS since Feb. 1993.

CHICAGO - The "Mega Sustah-Girl Work Out Book" is totally illustrated by talented female artists. Its publisher participated in numerous panels at various major Comic-Cons where female participants would question and even protest the lack of female illustrators or the manner in which male illustrators depicted female characters.

This inspired ONLI STUDIOS to grow this fitness, wellness, personal-care journal and activity book totally illustrated by gifted female artists of all ages, styles and stages.

Included are works by Sara Richards, Afua Richardson, Ola, Ashley A. Woods, Sarah Brush, Jasmine Dawson, Rachelle Rosenberg, Kim Moseberry, Crystal Galloway, Tamir WIlliams, Arie Monroe, Rebekah Younger, and many more. The book is offered online from the Graphic Novels Tab at www.onlistudios.com. Amazingly great female illustrators are easier to find than one may be led to think.

CHICAGO- Smart collectors are seeing early original limited-edition comics and 'zines from ONLI STUDIOS showing up on Ebay.at increasing price points recently. Specializing in limited edition publications, the rarity and innovative nature of these items are motivating and appealing factors to these astute speculators.

Mainstream products often produce hundreds of thousands of publications diluting the after-market collections' pool. Whereas the svelte focus of ONLI STUDIOS is more like the tradition of studio-print-makers, in that it produces limited editions. With reprints being modified so that each edition or series is unique.

CHICAGO- "Color Me Bronzeville" from ONLI STUDIOS LLC is an activity book/coloring book that takes its smart users on a fun-fact and hip-tips filled journey into the iconic historical Bronzeville District of Chicago.. From being a positive destination for thousands of Black Southern Migrants during the Great Migration of the early 20th Century to now being revitalized in a dynamic nexus of creativity, culture & commerce.

This stimulating activity-book is a spin-off of Prof. Turtel Onli being recently contracted by Jessica Mueller, the Executive Director of the Business, Innovation and Growth Department located in the Carruthers Center For Inner City Studies , Northeastern University of Illinois' campus in Bronzeville, to produce a series of original paintings highlighting the legacy of stake-holders and landmarks in this rich community.

The resulting Rhythmistic paintings are on permanent display in the Business, Innovation & Growth offices.

30 years ago, in 1993 Prof. Onli launched the growing Black Age of Comics movement/genre in the National Treasure, South Side Community Art Center in this historic district. "Color Me Bronzeville" is now on sell via the ONLI STUDIOS website, ( www.onlistudios.com ), and the Trading Post Gift Shop of the DuSable Museum of Black History & Educational Center.

The DuSable Museum was founded in the early 1960s in Bronzeville by the late Margret & Charles Burroughs along with their intelligentsia circle. Onli closely mentored under them in the Summers of 1970 & '71 in the beginning of his long Rhythmistic career.

ONLI STUDIOS LLC shows its luv for your resourceful participation in its growing indie universe of characters & products!

Collaboration & Anthologies

Collaboration and Anthologies matter because they foster a sense of community among creators and provide a platform for emerging talents. Collaborative projects allow artists and writers to pool their skills and create compelling works that showcase different perspectives and art styles.

Anthologies provide readers with curated collections of stories. This introduces them to a variety of creators and promoting artistic diversity within the indie comic book scene.

Diverse Representation

Diverse Representation

Everyone deserves the spotlight behind the hero's mask. Diverse Representation matters because it promotes inclusivity and provides a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard.

Comics featuring diverse characters and exploring various identities challenge stereotypes, foster empathy, and connect readers with relatable narratives.

Cross-Genre Exploration

Cross-Genre Exploration

Cross-Genre Exploration is vital because it pushes the boundaries of storytelling and breaks free from the constraints of traditional genre conventions. By blending elements from different genres, indie creators can offer fresh and unique narratives that captivate audiences, keeping the medium vibrant and exciting.

This trend encourages innovation, attracts diverse readership, and expands the possibilities of storytelling within the comic book medium.

 Recent feedback from Australia:

 Hi Turtel.

Sorry I've taken so long to reply to your email.

I first learned about NOG back in the early 1980s when I read a review of it in "The Comics Journal".

The name and the artwork stuck in my head, but I never thought I'd ever get a chance to read NOG as it was an independent title and I lived in Australia - no internet then, just unreliable mail service. 🙂
Flash-forward to last month and I receive the most recent issue of ROCKTOBER magazine (which came out in 2021, I think). I'm flicking through the pages and I see an ad for NOG!!!

I was so excited that I went to your website immediately and ordered a copy - it was great to learn that the graphic novel (and sequels) were available as PDFs, because postage costs to Australia are prohibitive.

Anyway, that's how I discovered NOG and I'm thrilled to finally have the chance to read it (and the sequels). It was only 40 years, but it was worth the wait. 🙂

All the best,
Dann
